As another holiday approaches, the Biden administration has been contemplating whether to restrict domestic travel to certain states.
While many Americans are gearing up for their long President’s Day weekend plans, White House officials are having conversations about what can be down to help alleviate spreads of the new COVID-19 variants that have been found in the UK, South Africa and Brazil.
Discussions of restrictions to Florida are prominent as the U.K. variant, B.1.1.7, has spread like wildfire throughout the state. No definite plans have been placed, but federal officials are stating that any restrictions put in place will be discussed and worked through with state and local officials.
Another potential attempt to help contain the spread of COVID-19 and it’s emerging variants is the requirement of COVID-19 testing for travelers on all domestic flights. But for now, health experts, the Biden Administration, and travel companies are urging people to continue wearing a mask, practice social distancing, and to reconsider traveling unless it’s for emergency purposes.
