It is to no shock that the majority of the political landscape is focused on impeachment while other major stories are overshadowed. While the Senate considers if they should convict former President Donald Trump for the 2nd time in the past year for an impeachment charge, he continues to commandeer the political world though he has remained quiet during the process.

During all of this, President Biden’s administration has executed dozens of executive orders in his first few weeks in office. Below are some of the issues that have been overshadowed by the impeachment trial.

Keystone XL: The fallout from the Biden administration’s decision to cancel the Keystone XL Pipeline project has continued in recent days, even if it’s been under the radar.

$1,400 check controversy: The democratic party has been put on blast in recent weeks by progressives for supposably breaking their campaign promise of $2,000 stimulus checks. Democrats stated that with the $600 stimulus checks passed under the Trump administration, the $1,400 checks add up to that $2k amount. However many critics argue that this was not clear to voters.

Georgia criminal investigation into Trump: There is a  criminal investigation pending over Trump in Georgia over his call with Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. On this call Trump asked Raffensperger to “find” enough votes to win the election, even though Raffensperger said there was no significant voter fraud in Georgia. Even if Trump does not get deemed guilty in the impeachment trial, he may face criminal sanctions in Georgia depending on the investigation results.

Slow school reopening: The White House has doubled their goal of having half of schools reopened at least one day per week. This was a measure set for Biden’s first 100 days in office.
