During the early morning hours of Thursday, two busloads of migrants were dropped off at a metro bus stop near Vice President Kamala Harris’ official residence in the Naval Observatory.

Following her controversial claim that the US-Mexico border was “secure” in a recent interview, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s administration approved the drop-off. According to the Washington Examiner, the Lone Star State’s morning surprise for Harris was intended to disprove her claim and bring the problem she is ignoring to her doorstep.

In a recent interview with Meet the Press host Chuck Todd, Harris insisted, “The border is secure.”

Conservatives have dubbed Harris the “border czar” after President Joe Biden appointed her as the point person for immigration issues plaguing the country last year. Her mission was to address the “root causes” of the migration influx at the southern border by making diplomatic overtures to the migrants’ home countries in order to assist them in resolving the underlying issues that were catalyzing mass emigration.

Todd pressed Harris, noting that border arrests are expected to exceed a record-breaking two million in fiscal year 2022, which ends this month. According to the Wall Street Journal, over 1.82 million arrests were made between last October and mid-August.

“We have a secure border, which is a priority for any country, including ours and our administration.” But, given the deterioration that has occurred over the last four years, there are still many problems that we are attempting to resolve,” Harris responded.

Abbott’s message Thursday morning was clear: the border is anything but secure.

She also chastised Abbott for a “history of causing chaos and confusion at the border.” The Biden administration claims to have done more to secure the border than former President Donald Trump.

But Abbott has remained steadfast, insisting that Texas has been the epicenter of a migration crisis that the Biden administration has ignored and exacerbated.

“It’s interesting that they’re all concerned about a few dozen or a few hundred migrants arriving in their town, despite the fact that we get that many per hour in almost every community across the border. So we’re constantly dealing with this, and I’m just doing my best to assist our border communities “He stated to Fox News.

Other red states appear to have jumped on board as well. On Wednesday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent two planeloads of migrants to Martha’s Vineyard. Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has also dispatched buses full of migrants to the nation’s capital.

Abbott is running for reelection as governor and has a sizable lead in most polls over his Democratic opponent Beto O’Rourke.
